Following the success of our previous event, we aimed to build momentum with a more hands-on workshop. Instead of focusing heavily on theoretical aspects, we wanted participants to dive straight into the Cardano ecosystem, experiencing firsthand the interactions and functionalities of Cardano.
While understanding blockchain concepts and Cardano's unique attributes is essential, we recognize that practical engagement often solidifies learning better than theoretical study. Like coding, familiarity with Cardano grows more effectively through direct interaction.
Workshops also make the Cardano ecosystem more tangible. Concepts like staking, liquidity pools, and P2P lending become clearer when participants can apply them immediately. This foundation empowers attendees to continue their Cardano and DeFi journey independently.
Event Recap
Participants brought their laptops, and the first task was installing the Eternl wallet on their browsers and creating wallets. For those new to cryptocurrencies, this was an excellent opportunity to discuss different wallet types and private key management. We then sent each participant 100 ADA and had them practice sending ADA to each other.
Next, we guided everyone through staking their ADA to a stake pool of their choice. This practical exercise allowed us to explain Proof-of-Stake, Catalyst, and the governance topics relevant to the upcoming Chang hardfork.
With ADA and foundational knowledge in hand, we explored the following DeFi applications:
- 1 - TapTools.io: We introduced TapTools.io, a platform akin to CoinMarketCap for Cardano native tokens. Participants learned how to navigate and utilize the tool to track token performance.
- 2 - Minswap: Participants engaged in token swaps on Minswap, experiencing the functionality of a decentralized exchange.
- 3 - Lenfi.io: We demonstrated P2P lending by participating in lending and borrowing activities on Lenfi.io, highlighting the practical benefits and risks.
- 4 - JPEG.store and Book.io: To showcase the power of NFTs, we purchased a book NFT on JPEG.store and used it to view the content on Book.io. This illustrated the versatility and utility of NFTs beyond art.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Participants found the workshop extremely interesting and, despite the vast amount of information, their engagement and questions reflected deep curiosity and enthusiasm. Equally important, the workshop was fun for all participants, including ourselves.
